Our Dandenong Hub is a Good Cycles program space. The Hub is used to run our social programs and engage and connect with the people and communities in the Greater Dandenong area.
Our vocational and workplace-based programs are key to what we do. They allow us to support disadvantaged and vulnerable communities into long-term employment. Our core training program is the Pedal Empowerment Program which runs in Dandenong, Docklands and Geelong.
The Dandenong Program Hub also facilitates community engagement programs. These programs connect Good Cycles with the Dandenong community by teaching valuable skills, decreasing social isolation and placing positive role models into participant’s lives.
A big thank you to our funder Gandel Philanthropy for helping us secure this space and grow our programs within the Dandenong community.
PEDAL EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
The Pedal Empowerment Program (PEP) is a vocational training course that focuses on process driving thinking, mechanical and employability skills. The course takes the participants through an introductory bicycle mechanic course, basic workshop skills and relevant employment skills such as interview preparation and workplace rights.
In Dandenong, PEP runs for five weeks each term on Tuesdays. For the final week, participants join together with the Docklands and Geelong PEP groups for a three-day Shifting Gears course. This course provides further bike mechanic skills, career coaching and the opportunity to meet new people. Dates for the first half of 2019 can be found below.
